OZ.  30"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I did say I wasn&#8217;t going to use the B word again.\u00a0 However, it&#8217;s April Fools Day (that shows you how busy we&#8217;ve been!) and Nick and Cath have just sent a couple of relevant photos which I reproduce here&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1776\" src=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/38zbp59f94p21.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"494\" height=\"529\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/38zbp59f94p21.png 494w, https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/38zbp59f94p21-280x300.png 280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 494px) 100vw, 494px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And the new commemorative coin &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1777\" src=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/images-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"564\" height=\"544\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/images-2.jpeg 564w, https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/images-2-300x289.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 564px) 100vw, 564px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now, in the last couple of weeks of our stay on the Sunshine Coast, we need to catch up with friends and relations.<\/p>\n<p>Peter and Beryl took us and a couple of their friends for a Tibetan supper at a restaurant inside the camp ground at Forest Glen &#8211; Jampa&#8217;s Spirit of Tibet.\u00a0 Now our connection with the Beinnsens is more than a little interesting.\u00a0 Well, I think so anyway.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a long story, but in essence it involves three of my marine biology college-day friends.\u00a0 Two of whom are serious Australiophiles &#8211; their travels in this magnificent country make us look like beginners!\u00a0 I think they&#8217;ve travelled &#8220;Down-under&#8221; at least 7,500 times.\u00a0 OK, well lots anyway.\u00a0 The third connection has lived and worked in Townsville for many years and &#8211; coincidentally &#8211; is well known to Penny from the Myanmar cruise.<\/p>\n<p>In all our (now 24 visits) we have never been in the same area as David and Penny (and there are too many Pennys in this episode) at the same time.\u00a0 Then on one occasion, nine or ten years ago, we discovered we were all going to be in Queensland at the same time.\u00a0 &#8220;Where are you going to be?&#8221;\u00a0 &#8220;Mooloolaba!&#8221;\u00a0 &#8220;Really, so are we!&#8221;\u00a0 It turns out they were visiting the friends they made when buying their camping truck (now known affectionately as &#8220;Wombat&#8221;).\u00a0 And they were the Peter and Beryl of this story.<\/p>\n<p>It transpired that P &amp; B live about 200 m from Robin&#8217;s old house as the lorikeet flies.\u00a0 400 m by boat and about 3 kms by road.\u00a0 In conversation, the plot further deepened when we discovered that in a previous life in Townsville they had succeeded (or was it preceeded) the third Newcastle University friend, David Barnes, in a job!\u00a0 Small world!<\/p>\n<p>Kevin and Robyn (friends from Brisbane we met on the Kimberley trip) spent a wet day with us &#8211; perfect for a catch up.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1774\" src=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190327_154634_crop_576x285.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"576\" height=\"285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190327_154634_crop_576x285.jpg 576w, https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190327_154634_crop_576x285-300x148.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; and an evening meal at Pelican Waters pub with Lorraine, another of their friends.\u00a0 So that was five senior specials!<\/p>\n<p>Then Penny, a long-standing friend (made by Glenda when I had to dash home when my mother got very ill) came for morning tea.\u00a0 Penny&#8217;s outlook on life is&#8230; well let&#8217;s just say unconventional.\u00a0 Delightfully unconventional.\u00a0 &#8220;As it flows&#8221; best describes her view of long-range planning &#8230;\u00a0 And in that context 24 hours can be a distant horizon!\u00a0 But she did bring an apple turn-over, a loaf of banana bread and a jar of homemade strawberry jam!\u00a0 Cup of tea next Tuesday, Penny?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1780\" src=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190328_140358_crop_566x785.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"566\" height=\"785\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190328_140358_crop_566x785.jpg 566w, https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190328_140358_crop_566x785-216x300.jpg 216w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 566px) 100vw, 566px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Today we met Steve and Marie for morning tea at the Silva Spoon Cafe in Cotton Tree.\u00a0 This place had been voted the best tea shop in Queensland for the last three years in a row.\u00a0 We were introduced to it three years ago by Penny-as-it-flows-Clarke.\u00a0 The place was jammed &#8211; largely by a party of ladies of a certain age who seemed to be trying to out-do one another with high pitched cackles of laughter.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1784\" src=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190401_110629_crop_811x478.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"811\" height=\"478\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190401_110629_crop_811x478.jpg 811w, https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190401_110629_crop_811x478-300x177.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190401_110629_crop_811x478-768x453.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 811px) 100vw, 811px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But the tea was good and it is always great to catch up with the Ricketts.\u00a0 (We met them almost exactly ten years ago at a pub &#8211; the Iluka Tavern??? &#8211; in Freycinet, Tasmania.)\u00a0 They&#8217;ve been trying to shake us off for a decade now!\u00a0 Clearly regretting letting us share their sunset table all those years ago!\u00a0 We had a three mile walk along the Maroochy River&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1786\" src=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190401_131134-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190401_131134-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190401_131134-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190401_131134-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; big shock.\u00a0 So off to the Sunshine University Hospital to deliver a card.\u00a0 Very sensibly they wouldn&#8217;t let me on the ward even though I said I was Jane&#8217;s long lost cousin from the UK.\u00a0 But the hospital is truly magnificent.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been built very recently to cater for the massively increased numbers of residents (current and planned).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1793\" src=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190406_115433-6276x2784-1024x454.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"310\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190406_115433-6276x2784-1024x454.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190406_115433-6276x2784-300x133.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tappstravels.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/20190406_115433-6276x2784-768x341.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The internal corridors are so long and numerous that they are all named as roads and avenues!\u00a0 The multi-story carparks alone are bigger than the whole of Torbay Hospital which serves our part of South Devon!\u00a0 Let&#8217;s hope that they can sort Jane out swiftly &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Just to complete the visitors-catch-up-thing: we still owe Beryl and Peter a breakfast and we are trying to get together with Trish and Trevor.\u00a0 But as I write this we only have four days left.\u00a0 Oh no!!!<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know if you have seen this &#8211;
