The internet cover here is tragically slow!\u00a0 There are very few opportunities to update this account!<\/p>\n

I think we were in Eidfjord when last I wrote – athough, by then we were in Bergen!\u00a0 The “Eid” part of “Eidfjord” actually means between two waters.\u00a0 In this case between the fresh water lake fed by the hydroelectric scheme (which apparently is responsible for this settlement being one of the richest in rural Norway) and the brackish water of the fjord itself.\u00a0 Looking at the map, I see there are several place names beginning with “Eid”.\u00a0 But then there is a lot of water hereabouts!<\/p>\n

The freshwater lake was a gentle two km stroll up the valley.<\/p>\n

With a lovely beach…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

… while our ship floats serenely in the fjord.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

From the ship we took a trip up to the Hardanger Mountain Plateau where we stopped to view a dramatic waterfall and valley (the Voringsfossen waterfall at Fossli).\u00a0 We also visited the local nature centre and<\/p>\n

And like many places it was guarded by a troll …<\/p>\n

On the trip we also visited the local nature centre and the Sysen dam.\u00a0 The dam is built of 3.6 million cubic metres of stone and moraine deposits – but NO concrete!<\/p>\n

Today was our wedding anniversary.\u00a0 \u00a0Before a super dinner in the posh French restaurant on board (La Dame), we met a few of our new-found friends for a cocktail or two!<\/p>\n

Fabulous evening!<\/p>\n

And by then we were on the way to Bergen!<\/p>\n
