The Hotel Alpina by night …
Roast chestnuts and mulled wine (glühwein) by the Christmas tree …
… and the “sun deck” is being cleared of snow after a heavy fall – automatically!
The lobby.
Table 46 – Family Tapp’s table.
Our Tyrolean dressed waitresses Jana and Natalie …
And now for some food! The cereal bar with 16 nuts/seeds/fruit additions …
The “oven” always had a variety of hot pastries and croissants to start the day.
… and the “snacks” at 3pm were not to be missed …
One day Glenda and Linda went to “cookery school ” to try their hand at making apfel strudel. And it appeared with the afternoon snacks the next day!
The sweet buffet at the end of the gala dinner had to be seen to be believed …
Don’t tell Lauren but we have a chocolate fountain tonight!
And the cheese was particularly stretchy …
… but Jack had some serious competition in this event!
We celebrated Jack’s eighth birthday – one day late.
Glenda being escorted in the scary gondola!
“Smile please, Jack!”
“I AM smiling!”
The boys enjoyed collecting “snowballs”…
While Grandpa sits it out …
… while contemplating how many children are wedged in the slides which run straight into the snow drifts!
Our walk into the hills via Zirben Alm (a restaurant/bar at the bottom of a ski lift) got us on the path to the summit. We followed it for a kilometre or so until the path got a little “interesting”, close to steep drops.
The piste bashers…
… leave the snow beautifully patterned …
But all too soon it’s time to head for home…
Our last glimpse of the snow covered mountains…
So there you have it – a photo blog!
Happy Christmas everyone!
Looks like you had a wonderful time. Sorry to hear about the Thomas cook fiasco. Marie and I had Thomas Cook travellers’ cheques on our first trip abroad in 1977!
Looks absolutely fabulous……very special family time and lasting memories.
How very strange the world has become…..in Europe so much snow whilst Australia is burning. Hope your family are safe in Oz. Merry Christmas to you both and thanks for the blog in photos…..it was great.
Big hugs and 7 kisses xxxxxxx
Of course our Australian family are skiing with us at the minute – well not exactly at the minute – but they are here in the UK!
